With Google Adsense or Yahoo Publisher, having people click onto more pages helps your revenue immensely, but how do you get them to read more than one page when they visit your website? Here are a few tips.

1. Create pages within the blog that contain reference material you refer to often in your posts. These static pages will also get crawled and indexed by the search engines and as you write posts about your topics you can refer people to these static pages as references to what you are posting about.

2. Use articles as static pages. You can reprint articles on any topic for free by visiting one of the many article directories like http://www.articlecontentprovider.com/articlesubmit/ Then refer people to read the articles that relate to the post you are making. You could even add one article as a new page every time you make a post.

3. Refer to other posts you have made on your blog or on another one of your blogs while posting. This gets the reader to click over to previous posts. You can even decide your posts by browsing previous posts and deciding which one to follow up on. Those archives are not to be lost and forgotten. Its great material, (you wrote it right?), so use it.

4. Create a page that links to your favorite posts that are timeless. You browse your old posts, find posts that you want readers to find easily, then build a links page with those posts directly linked. Then add a link to that page from your front page. Call it favorite posts or whatever and you will benefit by those that click through and follow those links.

5. I’ve posted here before about the “more” tag. You write your post as normal, then decide where you want to break the post up onto a new page. You put the more tag in and readers have to click to a new page to read the rest of the story.

6. Write once per week special projects. These are a series of articles on a particular topic. You will be offering it once per week giving readers a week to comment on it, then have them hanging on for next weeks special post in the series. Each time add links to previous posts in that series.

7. Using your content from your other websites or blogs is also a great way to get more pageviews for all of them. Use the target new tag and refer to material on your other blogs and websites. It will open a new window leaving the current blog open while they visit your other website or blog. You can quickly double up your pageviews while also introducing your readers to your other websites and blogs.

8. Make a list of 10 previous posts and the links to those posts. Make a post in your blog about 10 things you want your readers to know and read in case they have not done so before. At your suggestion they will at least go see if they have read those posts before, increasing your pageviews once again plus bringing old material to new readers. That also lets them know they should browse the archives for things they have missed.

9. Using that same list of 10 posts or a new one, visit other blogs on your topic. Find posts that talk about something similar to one of those 10 posts, then instead of adding a link in your signature to the home page, make a comment there and refer to the post that is similar and that contains helpful information to that blogger and their readers. You will also be increasing your link popularity while doing this. Do not spam the link. Make sure it actually contains useful information. Don’t be trolls or spammers and you will end up with new readers and more page views for your blog.

10. Do not stop being creative. Use the tips in this article, plus invent some of your own ways to interlink your blogposts together. Create pages. Don’t just post and forget. That content is valuable, use it. Do not make people search your blog. They are lazy and busy. Bring it to them. That is just good customer service.

I hope this article helps you learn there is more to blogging than just writing a post once in awhile or even daily. If you employ the tips I just gave you into your blog I guarantee you will increase your pageviews which in turn will increase your revenue if using an ad program in your blog.

Computer consulting business can be generated by referrals or by asking your current clients and friends if they know anyone who needs help. Speak up and be open to new opportunities for more business in computer consulting.

computer consulting, small business computer consulting, IT consulting

Make sure your current computer consulting clients, friends, and family know what types of companies you work with, the types of things you do, and how much you would appreciate referrals from them.

A lot of times, by asking the right kind of open-ended questions, you can be very pleasantly surprised when your computer consulting contacts start discussing something that evolves into a $10,000 or $15,000 services opportunity because they all of a sudden had a lightening bolt moment.

What You May Hear

“We have this woman in Accounting who is typing the same thing in three times over and over and over again. I wonder if there’s some way that you could set up links or do something in Access that that would eliminate that??or “We have this crazy process where we’re still using this DOS-based 19.2 modem but we’ve heard there’s a web-based way to do this. Can you look into it and help us implement it??This is a golden opportunity to get more computer consulting business.

Open Ended Questions are Best

Get your customers talking. Instead of asking, “Are we doing a good job?” Which gives you a “yes” or “no” answer, you can ask questions that give you more opportunities to serve your customers. Ask them questions like:
“How are we doing?””What else can we help you with?””What do you like about how we’re helping?””What do you like about how we’re servicing the account?””What do you think we can improve on?”

Now take this information and suggest new ways of working together to benefit both of you.

So you’d like to start publishing special reports and ebooks to use as marketing tools and to sell as products. But you have no budget to get this new venture going. Here’s a tip to help you get up and running at no cost.

The traditional route to publishing digital products is to purchase software designed specifically for creating PDFs, such as Adobe Acrobat.

But there is another option that won’t cost you a dime. Use free PDF-making software available on the web.

If you don’t mind seeing a few ads every time you create a PDF, I recommend using PDF995. You can download their free software at http://www.pdf995.com and use it to create PDF formats of all your ebooks and special reports, or any other files that you’d like to convert to PDF format.

Once you have installed the free software, you simply print the documents you would like to convert, and select PDF995 as the destination printer. And, voila! Your file has been converted.

Be sure to also download their PDF Edit and Signature software to take advantage of their editing and security functions. I have been using PDF995 for months and I love it. It is simple and easy to use, and best of all, it doesn’t cost a dime!

IT Marketing: Multi-tasking is Key

By , March 22, 2017 1:27 pm

IT Marketing requires doing several marketing tasks simultaneously. Pick 3 or 4 and do them for several months, than eliminate the ones that don’t work and add new ones to continue with IT marketing.

IT-marketing, IT marketing

When you do a direct mail campaign, it is very important that you know exactly who you’re trying to reach and that you come up with some kind of targeted message.

If you are just getting started, you may feel overwhelmed when you realize that there are up to 30 IT marketing tasks that you are capable of doing. Look at the list and find four or five of the most appealing, and then just work those a quarter at a time. The key is to be having several IT marketing tasks going on at once.

Ideas for IT Marketing

It might be outbound telemarketing. It may be postcard mailings where you’re sending out a certain amount of postcards to a group and possibly doing a follow-up mailer every week or two or maybe direct mail letters. It may be some trade shows that are in your area, expos or industry or maybe holding a seminar.

Diversify your holdings

Hit different areas, and figure out a way that you can measure and track what you’re doing. Know how much time and money you’re putting in each category. Figure out what kind of leads you’re getting from the time and money you’re investing. Figure out what’s working so you can do more of that and what’s not working so you can do less of that.

Evaluate Your IT Marketing Efforts Every Quarter

Whatever you choose, stick to it for 2 to 3 months, and see how it goes. Once the quarter is over, stick with those that worked, can those that didn’t, and add a couple of new ones to the mix. Marketing is an ongoing process! It’s really a refinement process over time.

Small Business IT Consulting: Targeting The Sweet Spot

By , March 19, 2017 2:27 am

Small Business IT Consulting is served best by “sweet spot” small businesses, those with 10-50 computers and 10-100 employees. These companies have a dedicated server and need support via small business IT Consulting

Small business IT consulting professionals can choose to market themselves to “sweet spot small businesses”. These small businesses are where you start to see small business IT consultants breaking through that $100 an hour barrier. This is where you start to see $95 to $125 an hour work, or in many cases more than that, depending on where you’re located.

Targeting Their Needs

With the sweet spot small businesses, generally they’ve outgrown peer to peer options and they have one or more dedicated servers. This can be to the small business IT consulting professionals?advantage, because the competition they may have faced in targeting smaller firms is nonexistent in this arena.

That’s a very key fork in the road for this kind of small business. Once they get to the point where they have a dedicated server, they need professional help along with it. They can’t limp along with low budget economy, no-frills options, making this segment of the market a good target for the small business IT consulting professional.

How Big Are Sweet Spot Businesses?

A small business IT consulting professional should know that sweet spot small businesses have 10 to 50 computers, and 10 to 100 employees.

If you’re looking to target these companies with direct mail and other like forms of marketing, you should keep in mind that they produce anywhere from $1 million to $10 million in revenue – sometimes as high as $20 million in annual revenue.

Every time we walk through Wal Mart or your local grocery store, we’re reminded of the upcoming season. There’s a constant supply of displays that go up?Christmas, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Fourth of July?and the list goes on in a never ending cycle.

seasonal and holiday events, direct mail

Every time we walk through Wal Mart or your local grocery store, we’re reminded of the upcoming season. There’s a constant supply of displays that go up?Christmas, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Fourth of July?and the list goes on in a never ending cycle.

Why do stores focus so much on holiday and seasonal themes? Heck, there’s a lot of money to be made! The next time you’re twisting your shopping cart around a center aisle display, ask yourself how you can cash in on a little of the holiday bonanza.

Let’s face it, people are season conscious?whether they want to be or not. That’s why sneaking a little holiday language into your direct mail headlines is a good idea.

3 Steps to Incorporating Holiday Headlines

1. Which seasons does your product/service relate to?

New Years
Valentine’s Day
President’s Day
St. Patrick’s Day
Easter
Spring
Fourth of July
Graduation
Summer
Family Reunions
Back to School
Sweetest Day
Halloween
Fall
Thanksgiving
Winter
Christmas

The list is endless! Find a few to focus on. Keep an expectancy alive in your marketing campaign all year long!

2. Combine your offer with a holiday a theme
Add a new twist to your offer to make it seasonal. If you offer lawn care services, you might want to zero in on the fall leaves lying on the ground. There are a million and one ways to spin your product to match the upcoming season or holiday.

3. Target the Reader
Why would the reader want to use your service or product? Is it unique, top-of-the-line, cost effective, time efficient? Speak to the needs of the reader.

Normal business slumps can be avoided when you ride the coattails of the never ending list of seasonal and holiday events!

1 – Blogging: Let’s Get You Started!

So what is blogging really all about? First off, let me tell you that it’s a lucrative business to blog and that blogs are easy to set up and manage. Imagine getting paid to write about subjects that interest you, whenever you want, wherever you are! The flexibility involved allows you to maintain your blog at your own pace, and with Internet caf├ęs easily accessible all over the globe, even your vacation won’t get in the way of your blogging… Or should I say: even your blogging won’t get in the way of your vacation?

In this article, let’s take a look at the profitability of a blog and set up one of our own, free of charge! Interested? Read on!

First, you need to get yourself a blog. There are several options ?host a blog on your own domain or get a free one. For starters, let’s talk about the free blogs. You can obtain one at http://www.blogger.com or the newer (and better!) http://www.wordpress.com. WordPress is a free blog engine that is robust and infinitely expandable.

Blogger is actually owned by Google, so it will be detected by Google’s radar faster and you will be indexed more quickly. WordPress.com, however, is a relatively new option so I have no comparison on the speed of getting indexed by search engines. However, WordPress is better in the sense that it has more advanced features such as Trackbacks and Categories. You can also manage your sidebar links more efficiently (more about this later).

Get a free blog at either Blogger or WordPress. Then, familiarize yourself by publishing your first post on your blog and tinkering around with the options and templates.

Here are some words to start expanding your blogging vocabulary:

Permalink ?Permalink stands for permanent link, which is a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) that leads to an individual post that you make in your blog.

Trackback ?When you post about someone else’s blog post elsewhere, your post will show up in their “trackback?section. This feature, however, is not available with a Blogger account.

Pinging ?Blogging seems to be paired with pinging almost every time either one is mentioned nowadays. Pinging is actually the action where a certain aggregator is notified whenever your blog is updated, so that the aggregator may show the newest post of your blog on their website. This is a useful way to gain traffic, which I’ll discuss in a future article.

Content

Next, let’s look at the type of content that’s suitable for your blog in order to make it profitable. You need to understand that there is no fixed scope that your blog should have, which means you can write about whatever you’re interested in. Mind you, the difference between a profitable blog and a non-profitable one is the way you write. What would you prefer: reading your university professor’s lecture notes or the latest novel by your favorite author? People prefer to read “light” items most of the time. When they check out your blog, they are not only looking for information, but they are also looking for information that they can access easily.

So, to attract more visitors as well as to keep your current readers coming back for more, it’s very important to add a personal touch to your blog posts. This can be done by simply imagining that you’re talking with your personal friend. An extra bonus for your readers would be a great sense of humor, so try to add funny comments in your articles where relevant.

Another important point is to avoid addressing your reader as a plural unit. Don’t write as if you’re preparing a speech. Instead, write as if you’re having a conversation with a single person, an equal friend, because this will make your reader relate to you more easily.

Besides that, it’s also very useful to establish your own personality through your words. We’re very curious creatures, so naturally your visitors would want to know as much about you as the information you’re offering them.

Having a distinctive personality in your blog will make a world of difference between your blog about gadgets and all the other blogs about gadgets out there. This is a lot like creating your own brand name, where people immediately remember your blog’s name when they need information about gadgets, just like how people immediately think of McDonald’s for fastfood or Nike for sportswear.

There will be more on the subject of content the next time.

When word gets around about your command of blogging, others who need to know about blogging will start to actively seek you out!
